Water Damaged Hardwood Floor Repair in Duluth, MN

How We Approach It
We meter the hardwood and the subfloor with pin and pinless meters, and we look for the source before we quote sanding. If the readings are high we want to know why: basement humidity, a failed vapour barrier, gutter and grading problems moving water against the foundation, or an actual leak.
Then we wait. The wood needs to come back to 6% to 9% and hold there across several readings on different days. Only then does sanding make sense. A dehumidifier running in the basement for a few weeks is often the entire fix, and it is cheaper than anything we would otherwise sell you.

Only if the wood has already dried and stabilised. Sanding a cupped floor flat while it is still holding moisture is the mistake that costs owners the most.
